The Power of Solitude

The Power of Solitude:

How Artists Can Use Solitude to Creatively Heal Their Relationships

Interview Conference Series

June 7-13

The Power of Solitude, an international conference series, is the brainchild of Sharlene Anders, a Creativity Coach and Artist who lives in Detmold, Germany. Lucy Adkins and Becky Breed were invited with twelve other individuals from the US, Singapore and New Zealand to participate in in-depth person-to-person interviews with Ms. Anders on the transformational qualities of solitude. Lucy’s’ interview is called “The Catch-22 of Being an Artist.” Becky will be sharing “You’re Not Alone, You’re With Yourself.”

Registration for The Power of Solitude is free.

The ethos of The Writing and Creative Life ( is to connect people through creativity and the arts and to help all nurture and grow their creative potential. We also recognize the importance of pursuing solitude in order to find wholeness and freedom. Our interviews with Sharlene gave us an opportunity to discuss these dynamic challenges and to share what we know in transforming times of loneliness and frustration into paths of meaning and connection.

Description and Goals for the conference series:

The conference is for creatives and seekers who want to heal their relationships  – counting the one to themselves – but feel challenged by their circumstances, either by being alone too much or not enough. Artists, all of us, long for connection AND for the solitude that provides the space and the focus to do our best work.

What will you get out of these interviews?

  • How to connect to yourself on an intellectual, spiritual and physical level again.
  • How to change your thinking patterns by re-framing your thoughts.
  • How to radically accept your circumstance without bowing down to them.
  • How to talk to your friends and family when you are disconnected.
  • How hearing true stories can help you turn loneliness into solitude.
  • How to use strategies to help you feel more connected RIGHT NOW.

To register for the free conference, go to, and once registered, beginning June 7th, you will receive two links per day to view the pre-recorded interviews. One will be released at 10am Berlin time (5pm CDT) and the second at 8pm Berlin time (3am the following day CDT). To allow for time differences and individual schedules, once the event ends, you will have a week to watch the videos.

We look forward to watching the interviews and we hope you do, too.
